Meet Dr. Truong

Assoc. Prof. PhD. Dang Xuan Truong was born in 1978 in Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam.

2003 — He graduated as an engineer in Civil and Industrial Construction from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology — Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). He was retained by the university as a staff member immediately afterwards.

2007 — He received his Master's degree in Construction Mechanics from the University of Liège, Belgium.

2019 — He successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Geotechnical Engineering at HCMC University of Technology — VNU-HCM.

2025 — The State Council of Professors of Vietnam officially recognized him as Associate Professor in Transportation Engineering.

He currently serves as Head of the Urban Infrastructure Management Division and Program Chair of the Urban Management & Construction major at Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment — where he has helped build one of Southern Vietnam's flagship programs in urban infrastructure.

    Civil & Industrial Construction Engineer

    Graduated from HCMC University of Technology — VNU-HCM and retained by the university as a staff member.

  2. 2003 — 2008

    Teaching Assistant — HCMC University of Technology

    Served as Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, HCMUT — VNU-HCM.

  3. 2007

    Master of Construction Mechanics

    Awarded a scholarship and graduated from the University of Liège, Belgium.

  4. 2008 — 2020

    Lecturer — HCMC University of Transport

    Co-developed the Civil & Industrial Construction program across multiple degree levels and learning modes.

    ASEAN Engineer

    Nominated by VUSTA and officially recognized by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO).

  6. 2019

    PhD in Geotechnical Engineering

    Successfully defended doctoral dissertation at HCMC University of Technology — VNU-HCM.

    Founded the Urban Management & Construction major; Program Chair of the discipline.

Analyzing structural response to optimize the design and construction methods of foundations for civil, industrial, transportation and bridge projects.

Digital techniques to optimize stability of underground structures, basements, multi-storey car parks, river embankments and port works.

Soil Mechanics & Ground Improvement

Solutions for upgrading existing ground when load demand increases, and remedial techniques for foundation failures in civil, industrial and road structures.
